Metro investigating shooting, possible bomb at Starbucks in 7200 block of S. Rainbow

LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) — 12:40 P.M. UPDATE: At least one victim has been transported to Spring Valley Hospital.

12:35 P.M. UPDATE: Several people have been evacuated from Starbucks. People in nearby business, including Walgreen's and Walmart, are sheltering in place.

12:24 P.M. UPDATE: Metro officers and medical personnel are approaching the Starbucks building. Other stories are still being evacuated.

12:10 P.M. UPDATE: Radio traffic indicates people are still in the building, but some may have been able to evacuate.

12:05 P.M. UPDATE: There is a backpack in the doorway of the Starbucks and a suspect says it is an explosive device.

NOON UPDATE: Medical has not been able to make it to the scene. People inside the Starbucks are helping at least one shooting victim. Police have not yet made their way into the building.

11:54 A.M. UPDATE: Several business in the are are being evacuated. Several people are in the line of fire and are being moved to safety. Rainbow and Warm Springs traffic is being shut down. Metro was talking with the suspect's cell phone.

Metro is investigating a shooting at a Starbucks in the southwest valley.

The incident is being treated as a hostage situation with the shooter possibly still in the building.

The shooting occurred about 11:30 a.m. at 7260 S. Rainbow.

Radio traffic indicates there is at least one injury, a gunshot wound to a man's chest.

Several Metro units have arrived on the scene and there may be 10 to 15 people inside the building.

The suspect appears to be a man in his 40s with a dark baseball cap.

SWAT is being called to the scene.
