Dante sees Ladies Joan and Beatrice approaching Evelyn Paul

Vita nuova (XXIV, 1-11)

(1) After this wild dream I happened one day to be sitting in a certain place deep in thought, when I felt a tremor begin in my heart, as if I were in the presence of my lady.

(2) Then a vision of Love came to me, and I seemed to see him coming from that place where my lady dwelt, and he seemed to say joyously from within my heart: "See that you bless the day that I took you captive; it is your duty to do so." And it truly seemed to me that my heart was happy, so happy that it did not seem to be my heart because of this change.

(3) Shortly after my heart had said these words, speaking with the tongue of Love, I saw coming toward me a gentlewoman, noted for her beauty, who had been the much-loved lady of my best friend. Her name was Giovanna, but because of her beauty (as many believed) she had been given the name of Primavera, meaning Spring, and so she came to be called. And, looking behind her, …

CHAPTER VIII
Of the intimate love of Jesus

1. When Jesus is present all is well and nothing seemeth hard, but when Jesus is not present everything is hard. When Jesus speaketh not within, our comfort is nothing worth, but if Jesus speaketh but a single word great is the comfort we experience. Did not Mary Magdalene rise up quickly from the place where she wept when Martha said to her, The Master is come and calleth for thee?(1) Happy hour when Jesus calleth thee from tears to the joy of the spirit! How dry and hard art thou without Jesus! How senseless and vain if thou desirest aught beyond Jesus! Is not this greater loss than if thou shouldst lose the whole world?

2. What can the world profit thee without Jesus? To be without Jesus is the nethermost hell, and to be with Jesus is sweet paradise. If Jesus were with thee no enemy could hurt thee. He who findeth Jesus findeth a good treasure, yea, good above all good; and he who loseth Jesus loseth exc…

Death takes Beatrice Evelyn Paul

Vita nuova (XXIII, 1-31)

(1) A few days after this it happened that my body was afflicted by a painful disease which made me suffer intense anguish continuously for nine days; I became so weak that I was forced to lie in bed like a person paralyzed.

(2) Now, on the ninth day, when the pain was almost unbearable, a thought came to me which was about my lady.

(3) After thinking about her awhile, I returned to thoughts of my feeble condition and, realizing how short life is, even if one is healthy, I began to weep silently about the misery of life. Then, sighing deeply, I said to myself: "It is bound to happen that one day the most gracious Beatrice will die."

(4) At that, such a frenzy seized me that I closed my eyes and, agitated like one in delirium, began to imagine things: as my mind started wandering, there appeared to me certain faces of ladies with dishevelled hair, and they were saying to me: "You are going to die." And then after …

CHAPTER VII
Of loving Jesus above all things

1. Blessed is he who understandeth what it is to love Jesus, and to despise himself for Jesus' sake. He must give up all that he loveth for his Beloved, for Jesus will be loved alone above all things. The love of created things is deceiving and unstable, but the love of Jesus is faithful and lasting. He who cleaveth to created things will fall with their slipperiness; but he who embraceth Jesus will stand upright for ever. Love Him and hold Him for thy friend, for He will not forsake thee when all depart from thee, nor will he suffer thee to perish at the last. Thou must one day be separated from all, whether thou wilt or wilt not.

2. Cleave thou to Jesus in life and death, and commit thyself unto His faithfulness, who, when all men fail thee, is alone able to help thee. Thy Beloved is such, by nature, that He will suffer no rival, but alone will possess thy heart, and as a kin…

Dante and the dishevelled ladies Evelyn Paul

Vita nuova (XXII, 1-17)

(1) Not many days after this, according to the will of the Lord of Glory (who Himself accepted death), he who had been the father of such a miraculous being as this most gracious Beatrice clearly was, departed from this life, passing most certainly into eternal glory.

(2) Since such a departure is sorrowful to those who remain and who have been friends of the deceased; and since there is no friendship more intimate than that of a good father for a good child, or of a good child for a good father; and since this lady possessed the highest degree of goodness; and since her father, as is believed by many, and is the truth, was exceedingly good - then it is clear that this lady was filled with bitterest sorrow.

(3) And since it was the custom of this city for ladies to gather with ladies and men with men on such occasions, many ladies were assembled in that place where Beatrice wept piteously. I saw several of them returni…

The Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg's speech at the national memorial ceremony for 22 July 2011

Your Majesties,
Your Royal Highnesses,
Ladies and gentlemen
Dear all of you,

Today we are stopping the clock to remember the dead.
We are doing so as one nation.
Together we lost what we could not, and should not, lose.
77 lives.
Together we defeated hatred.
Together we are embracing openness, tolerance and fellowship.

We have cried together with you who were forced to say a last goodbye at the graveside.
We commiserate with those of you who cannot forget the images, the sounds and the smells of that black Friday.

We have thanked those of you who saved lives.
Those of you who have mitigated the pain.

Every candle has warmed.
Every thought has comforted.
Every rose has given hope.

We are a small country. But a proud people.

Together we have many questions.
Together we are looking for honest answers.
Not to blame other people than the perpetrator.
But to know.
To learn.
To proceed.

In respect for those who were t…

CHAPTER VI
Of the joy of a good conscience

1. The testimony of a good conscience is the glory of a good man. Have a good conscience and thou shalt ever have joy. A good conscience is able to bear exceeding much, and is exceeding joyful in the midst of adversities; an evil conscience is ever fearful and unquiet. Thou shalt rest sweetly if thy heart condemn thee not. Never rejoice unless when thou hast done well. The wicked have never true joy, nor feel internal peace, for there is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.(1) And if they say "we are in peace, there shall no harm happen unto us, and who shall dare to do us hurt?" believe them not, for suddenly shall the wrath of God rise up against them, and their deeds shall be brought to nought, and their thoughts shall perish.

2. To glory in tribulation is not grievous to him who loveth; for such glorying is glorying in the Cross of Christ. Brief is the glory which is given and…

Vita nuova (XXI, 1-8)

(1) After having dealt with Love in the last sonnet, I felt a desire to write more, this time in praise of that most gracious lady, showing how, through her, this Love is awakened, and how she not only awakens him there where he sleeps but also, how she, miraculously working, brings him into existence there where he does not potentially exist. And so I wrote this sonnet which begins: The power of Love.

(2) The power of Love borne in my lady's eyes imparts its grace to all she looks upon. All turn to gaze at her when she walks by, and when she greets a man his heart beats fast, the color leaves his face, he bows his head and sighs to think of all his imperfections. Anger and pride are forced to flee from her. Help me to honor her, most gracious ladies.

(3) Humility and every sweet conception bloom in the heart of those who hear her speak. (Praise to the one who first saw what she was!)

(4) The image of her when she starts to smile dissolves within the mind and …

Berlusconi's New Libyan Friends Attacked The Italian Consulate In 2006 Over The Muhammad As A Dog Cartoon!

Image
Why did the 2011 Libyan revolt start?

Was it started as a noble cause? No, the Libyan Day of Rage that was to usher in Modern Democracy on February 17, 2011 was started on the fifth year anniversary of the Muslim attack made on the Italian consulate in the port city of Benghazi.

Why did the Muslims attack the Italian consulate in 2006?  Over a cartoon! The Muslim scum attacked the Italian consulate over a cartoon! In 2006 the Italian Reform Minister Roberto Calderoli appeared on Italian T.V. wearing a T-shirt depicting Muhammad as a cartoon. Muslims of course went nuts and took to the streets.

The Muslims started their 2011 protest for more democracy by remembering the day that they took to the streets over a cartoon. Aristotle said that 'a small error in the beginning will lead to a huge one in the end.'

This is how to give birth to modern democracy in Muslim nations: wear a T-shirt of Muhammad

CHAPTER V
Of self-esteem

1. We cannot place too little confidence in ourselves, because grace and understanding are often lacking to us. Little light is there within us, and what we have we quickly lose by negligence. Oftentimes we perceive not how great is our inward blindness. We often do ill and excuse it worse. Sometimes we are moved by passion and count it zeal; we blame little faults in others and pass over great faults in ourselves. Quickly enough we feel and reckon up what we bear at the hands of others, but we reflect not how much others are bearing from us. He who would weigh well and rightly his own doings would not be the man to judge severely of another.

2. The spiritually-minded man putteth care of himself before all cares; and he who diligently attendeth to himself easily keepeth silence concerning others. Thou wilt never be spiritually minded and godly unless thou art silent concerning other men's matters and take full he…

Beatrice Addressing by Dante William Blake

Vita nuova (XX, 1-8)

(1) After this canzone had become rather well known, one of my friends who had heard it was moved to ask me to write about the nature of Love, having perhaps, from reading my poem, acquired more confidence in me than I deserved.

(2) So, thinking that after my treatment of the previous theme it would be good to treat the theme of Love and, feeling that I owed this to my friend, I decided to compose a poem dealing with Love. And I wrote this sonnet, which begins: Love and the gracious heart.

(3) Love and the gracious heart are a single thing, as Guinizelli tells us in his poem: one can no more be without the other than can the reasoning mind without its reason.

(4) Nature, when in a loving mood, creates them: Love to be king, the heart to be his home, a place for Love to rest while he is sleeping, perhaps for just a while, or for much longer.

(5) And then the beauty of a virtuous lady appears, to please the eyes, and in the h…

Atheist Pat Condell Wants More Democracy To Save Europe

Image
'Do you know the enemy?' - Green Day

The solution for all the world's ills is to call for more democracy, more democracy, more democracy and even more democracy, this is today's mantra amongst Jews, Christians, Muslims and Atheists alike. Today, everyone wants more democracy from the Pope on down. More democracy will solve everything.

So let me get this straight, the bad men who were voted into power by the ballot box and wrecked everything will somehow do a better job in restoring everything if more votes are cast?  Change the face and name of the politician and vote again, and again, and again, and everything will be better?  Didn't the ballot box lead us into the mess we are in, in the first place?  So the instrument that lead us into the mess we are in, will somehow lead us out of the mess we are in, if only we use the instrument more. Use it more and things will be better- nice philosophy. Recent history tells us that if men can not properly use the ballot box t…

CHAPTER IV
Of a pure mind and simple intention

1. By two wings is man lifted above earthly things, even by simplicity and purity. Simplicity ought to be in the intention, purity in the affection. Simplicity reacheth towards God, purity apprehendeth Him and tasteth Him. No good action will be distasteful to thee if thou be free within from inordinate affection. If thou reachest after and seekest, nothing but the will of God and the benefit of thy neighbour, thou wilt entirely enjoy inward liberty. If thine heart were right, then should every creature be a mirror of life and a book of holy doctrine. There is no creature so small and vile but that it showeth us the goodness of God.

2. If thou wert good and pure within, then wouldst thou look upon all things without hurt and understand them aright. A pure heart seeth the very depths of heaven and hell. Such as each one is inwardly, so judgeth he outwardly. If there is any joy in the world sur…

Vita nuova (XIX, 1-22)

(1) Then it happened that while walking down a path along which ran a very clear stream, I suddenly felt a great desire to write a poem, and I began to think how I would go about it. It seemed to me that to speak of my lady would not be becoming unless I were to address my words to ladies, and not just to any ladies, but only to those who are worthy, not merely to women.

(2) Then, I must tell you, my tongue, as if moved of its own accord, spoke and said: Ladies who have intelligence of love.

(3) With great delight I decided to keep these words in mind and to use them as the beginning of my poem. Later, after returning to the aforementioned city and reflecting for several days, I began writing a canzone, using this beginning, and I constructed it in a way that will appear below in its divisions. The canzone begins: Ladies who have.

(4) Ladies who have intelligence of love, I wish to speak to you about my lady, not thinking to complete her litany, but to talk in ord…

Evil Portent To Close August 2011: Will President Barack Hussein Obama Celebrate Muslim Feast Day Eid al-Fitr On August 31, 2011?

When the sacred months are over, slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them. - Quran 9:5

At the end of Ramadan the Muslims pig out to mark the end of not eating, not fornicating, not stealing or killing during the daylight hours. The Ramadan crime free fast is for a whole month where observant Muslims abstain during sunrise to sunset from their usual passions of rape, mayhem and murder. However anything is allowed during the night time when Allah's eyes are so obscured by the darkness he created called "night". Allah is unable to see the crimes committed by Muslims so they are given free reign during nighttime to do as they wish. Hey if Allah can not see it, then it did not happen!. The Muslims are the first known vampires who bury their evil desires during the daylight hours only to emerge after sunset to wreak vengeance and fulfill their blood lust  on hapless victims.

The month Ramadan ends with a feast ca…

CHAPTER III
Of the good, peaceable man

1. First keep thyself in peace, and then shalt thou be able to be a peacemaker towards others. A peaceable man doth more good than a well-learned. A passionate man turneth even good into evil and easily believeth evil; a good, peaceable man converteth all things into good. He who dwelleth in peace is suspicious of none, but he who is discontented and restless is tossed with many suspicions, and is neither quiet himself nor suffereth others to be quiet. He often saith what he ought not to say, and omitteth what it were more expedient for him to do. He considereth to what duties others are bound, and neglecteth those to which he is bound himself. Therefore be zealous first over thyself, and then mayest thou righteously be zealous concerning thy neighbour.

2. Thou knowest well how to excuse and to colour thine own deeds, but thou wilt not accept the excuses of others. It would be mo…

Vita nuova (XVIII, 1-9)

(1) Because of my appearance many people had learned the secret of my heart, and certain ladies who had seen me swoon at one time or another, and who knew my heart very well, happened to be gathered together one day, enjoying each other's company, when I, as if guided by fortune, passed near them and heard one of these gentlewomen call to me.

(2) The lady who addressed me had a very lively way of speaking, and so, when I had come up to them and saw that my most gracious lady was not with them, gaining confidence, I greeted them and asked what I could do to please them.

(3) There were many ladies present: several were laughing together; others were looking at me as if waiting for me to say something; there were others talking among themselves - one of whom, turning her eyes toward me and calling me by name, said: "Why do you love this lady of yours, if you are unable to endure the sight of her? Tell us, for surely the goal of such a love must be strange …

St. Louis IX King Of France ~ His Letter Of Advice To His Eldest Son

Image
Louis IX, King of France, lost his father at the age of twelve years. He was brought up under the godly care of his mother, Blanche of Castile. In the twentieth year of his reign, he fell grievously sick, and the thought then occurred to him of delivering Jerusalem out of the hands of the Moslems. On his health being restored, he received a banner from the Bishop of Paris, and crossed the sea with a very great army. In his first battle he put the Saracens to flight, but, a great number of the soldiers perishing by disease, he was himself defeated and taken prisoner.

The King afterwards entered into treaty with the Saracens, and he and his army departed in peace. He remained five years in the East, during which he redeemed great numbers of Christians from slavery among the unbelievers, and also brought many of the infidels themselves to believe in Christ. Moreover he rebuilt several cities of the Christians at his own cost. Meanwhile, his mother departed this life, whereby he was const…
